In My Opinion

Now, I am the first to state that I love the glamping experience; I want all the niceties of a good campground, but one of the things I have realized in the 17 years we have been camping and the 16 months of full-timing is that people are an important part of the camping experience.

I have found that sometimes, in a smaller park, people are more cordial and receptive to the differences in culture and appearance of others who may not look like them.  They tend to interact more with their neighbors than in the larger parks.  In the larger parks, there often seems to be a disconnect. Unless you are a part of the group they are in, you can be looked upon as an outsider.  It’s like walking along the sidewalk in a large city; people are so busy and caught up in themselves that they don’t recognize the person 3 feet away.

Growing up, I was taught to speak to people and be respectful…it was just common courtesy; maybe courtesy isn’t so common nowadays.  Now, this is just my observation…I am one of one and do not speak for anyone other than myself.  I have always found it very easy to connect with people; color and differences are not an issue for me; I don’t meet strangers and have often been called too “people-ly”  by some of my friends.

With so much bias today, let’s not bring prejudices into the campground.  For us, camping is not just a weekend activity; it’s our lifestyle.  Yes, we chose this lifestyle and plan to continue enjoying it for many years.  We love what we do as travelers and content creators; it is our place of contentment and joy.    When I think about Heaven, I see ALL people living in a place of peace, love, community, and worship; that sounds like a good camping trip to me.
